Sales boom for Marvin’s Magic

Berglas – who also occupies the title of vice president of The Magic Circle – has chalked the company’s current surge in sales down to a global reinvigoration of the magic and entertainment sector that has seen sales boom not only in the UK, but across Europe, the Middle East, India, China, Australia and in the US.
In New York, and the Marvin’s Magic area in FAO Schwarz on Rockefella Plaza has been credited as a ‘magnet for locals, tourists and visitors since its opening’ at the flagship store.
“But what’s interesting is that globally there has been a noticeable increase in sales across all age groups from Magic Made Easy for youngsters starting out, Mind Blowing Magic for hobbyists, and even our Executive Magic,” said Berglas.
Society’s growing affinity with magic has certainly been reflected in this season’s Britain’s Got Talent, in which 11 of the 40 semi finalists had magic related acts. Berglas believes that thanks to the growing attention magic is gaining through shows such as BGT, it is enjoying a heightened status among children, families and audiences today.
“Magic is cool … and as diverse as music. In the same way you might enjoy Soul, R & B, Rap, Jazz, Classic or Pop there are also so many styles of magicians performing different styles of magic and illusions,” continued Berglas.
“There were a record five magic related acts in this years BGT final. These included some who started out with our sets and even some past demonstrators… most were friends and on our radar.”
Magician Ben Hart, in particular, made a huge impact performing close up magic. In his role as vice president of The Magic Circle, Berglas has an eye for spotting talent early. Hart was last year’s recipient of the Marvin’s Magic ‘Rising Star’ award which Berglas presented at The Magic Circle.
